Asbestos Awareness
Health and Safety Training UK are proud to provide asbestos awareness training courses for individual candidates and businesses around Newcastle, Teesside and the North East. Training is provided in accordance with the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 (CAR).
If a person’s line of work could reasonably expose them to asbestos, then they are required to undergo this training. Sectors such as demolition, refurbishment and maintenance contain work that can be expected to result in exposure to asbestos. The training is a minimum of 3-4 learning hours, providing detailed education on the safety around asbestos and hazardous waste. Exemption from this requirement only applies where the employer can prove that work will only take place in buildings without ACM (asbestos-containing materials).
There are a number of professions that such training is relevant to:
- Demolition workers
- Gas engineers
- Plumbers
- Electricians
- Painters and decorators
- Plasterers
- Construction workers
- Heating and ventilation engineers
- Architects
- Shopfitters
- Building surveyors
In the case of architects, building surveyors and those in similar professions, advanced training may be required that includes the core syllabus as well as an additional module including various responsibilities under the Construction Design and Management Regulations.
