Following successful completion the learner will be able to:
- Identify the basic construction, purpose and function of components and the purpose and use of all controls and gauges.
- Identify and comply with manufacturers’ instructions in accordance with the operator’s handbook, other information sources and applicable legislation.
- Carry out pre-use and running checks.
- Configure the crane for use
- Identify site and workplace hazards
- Identify crane and hoist procedures.
- Correctly assess loads and identify slings and chains
- Use correct safety and operating principles
- Use of correct machine shut down procedures
- Implement fault reporting and shut down procedures.

Accreditation upon completion
Successful learners will receive an operator’s ID card and certificate from the National Plant Operators Registration Schemes (NPORS) and their details will be registered onto the NPORS UK database.
